This Privacy Policy describes how Aapview Labs ("Aapview Labs," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, processes, and protects information when merchants install or use DiscountIQ (the "App") in connection with their Shopify store.
DiscountIQ is a Shopify application that helps merchants manage discounts, coupon codes, product pricing, scheduled promotions, promotion performance, and related commerce operations.
By installing or using DiscountIQ, the merchant acknowledges the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information we process
DiscountIQ processes only information reasonably necessary to provide and operate the App.
Shopify store and account information
When a merchant installs DiscountIQ, we may process information made available through Shopify, including:
- Shopify store identifier and domain;
- App authorization and session information;
- information required to authenticate the merchant and communicate with Shopify APIs; and
- technical information necessary to operate, secure, and maintain the App.
Product, pricing, discount, and promotion information
To provide DiscountIQ's pricing and promotional features, the App may process Shopify store information such as:
- products and variants;
- SKUs;
- product and variant pricing;
- compare-at prices;
- collections;
- product status and vendor information;
- discount and coupon configurations;
- scheduled promotion settings; and
- related promotion and pricing activity.
This information is used to provide catalog synchronization, price management, discounts, scheduled sales, promotion monitoring, rollback functionality, and related features requested by the merchant.
Order information
DiscountIQ may access recent Shopify order information when needed to provide coupon and promotion analytics.
The App may process information such as:
- order creation time;
- cancellation and financial status;
- discount codes used;
- order value and currency;
- sales channel or originating application; and
- Shopify customer identifier.
DiscountIQ uses this information to calculate merchant-facing metrics such as coupon-attributed revenue, redemption activity, average order value, promotion performance, refund or cancellation patterns, and sales-channel performance.
Customer information
DiscountIQ requests only the minimum protected customer data required for its current functionality.
For coupon analytics and repeat-redemption detection, DiscountIQ may process a Shopify customer identifier associated with an order.
DiscountIQ does not currently request or use protected customer fields such as customer name, email address, telephone number, or postal address for these features.
The Shopify customer identifier may be used to identify patterns such as repeated use of the same coupon by the same customer. These signals are provided to the merchant as analytics or warnings.
DiscountIQ does not use customer identifiers for advertising, direct marketing, or creating unrelated customer profiles.
2. How we use information
We process information obtained through DiscountIQ for purposes including:
- authenticating merchants and maintaining App sessions;
- synchronizing Shopify product and variant information;
- creating and managing discounts and coupon codes;
- updating and restoring product pricing;
- scheduling and managing sales and promotions;
- measuring coupon and promotion performance;
- identifying unusual or repeated coupon-redemption patterns;
- providing merchant dashboards, analytics, alerts, and audit information;
- troubleshooting and supporting the App;
- preventing abuse and protecting the security and integrity of the App;
- complying with Shopify platform requirements and privacy requests; and
- complying with applicable legal obligations.
We limit the use of personal data to the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
3. Data minimization
DiscountIQ is designed to process only the information required to provide its features.
For example, DiscountIQ's current coupon-performance functionality uses a Shopify customer identifier to detect repeat redemption patterns without requesting the customer's name, email address, telephone number, or postal address.
We periodically review the information requested from Shopify and seek to avoid requesting protected customer data that is not required for App functionality.
4. Data retention
DiscountIQ applies retention practices based on the type of information being processed.
Raw Shopify order and customer information used by the coupon-performance dashboard is fetched when analytics are requested and is held temporarily in application memory. The current analytics cache is designed to expire within 30 minutes.
DiscountIQ does not persist raw Shopify customer or order records in its application database for the current coupon-performance functionality.
Merchant-specific operational information, such as App sessions, catalog indexes, campaign configuration, promotion analytics, price-change records, preflight records, margin-protection settings, alerts, and audit information, may be retained while the merchant uses DiscountIQ because this information is required to provide the App's functionality.
When DiscountIQ receives an App uninstall event, its application cleanup process deletes shop-scoped DiscountIQ data. The App also responds to Shopify's mandatory shop-redaction privacy request.
Residual copies may remain temporarily in encrypted infrastructure backups or system recovery mechanisms according to applicable infrastructure-provider retention practices before being overwritten or deleted.
We do not retain personal data for longer than reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, subject to legitimate security, legal, accounting, or compliance requirements.
5. Shopify privacy requests
DiscountIQ supports Shopify's mandatory privacy mechanisms.
The App handles Shopify privacy requests including:
- customer data requests;
- customer redaction requests; and
- shop redaction requests.
Because DiscountIQ's current analytics implementation does not persist customer-specific Shopify order or customer records, there ordinarily is no persistently stored customer record for DiscountIQ to return or redact for those analytics features.
When Shopify sends a shop-redaction request, DiscountIQ deletes shop-scoped information under its control in accordance with its application deletion process.
6. How we share information
We do not sell personal information.
We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or unrelated marketing purposes.
Information may be processed by service providers that help us operate DiscountIQ, including:
Shopify — provides the commerce platform, APIs, authentication mechanisms, webhooks, and related services through which DiscountIQ operates.
Google Cloud — provides application hosting and infrastructure services used to operate DiscountIQ.
Supabase — provides managed PostgreSQL database infrastructure used for DiscountIQ application data.
These providers process information only as necessary to provide infrastructure or platform services to us and are subject to their applicable contractual and security obligations.
We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, governmental request, or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, security, or integrity of Aapview Labs, DiscountIQ, merchants, Shopify users, or others.
7. Security
We maintain technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect information processed by DiscountIQ.
These safeguards include measures such as:
- encrypted HTTPS connections for App traffic;
- encrypted database connections;
- encryption of stored database infrastructure;
- restricted access to production systems;
- protected management of application credentials and secrets;
- authenticated Shopify API and webhook communications;
- separation of merchant data by Shopify store; and
- avoidance of logging Shopify privacy-webhook payload contents that might contain personal information.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to maintain safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information processed.
8. Automated analysis
DiscountIQ may automatically analyze coupon-redemption patterns and other promotion activity to identify potentially unusual behavior.
For example, the App may identify repeated use by the same Shopify customer identifier, unusually concentrated redemption activity, or elevated refund or cancellation patterns.
These features provide informational signals to merchants. DiscountIQ does not currently use these analytics to automatically make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects for individual customers.
Merchants remain responsible for decisions they make based on the information provided by DiscountIQ.
9. Merchant responsibilities
Merchants determine how their Shopify store operates and are generally responsible for their relationship with their customers.
Merchants are responsible for ensuring that their use of DiscountIQ complies with applicable privacy, consumer-protection, marketing, and data-protection laws.
Where applicable, merchants are responsible for providing notices, obtaining consent, or honoring customer privacy choices required for their business.
10. Customer privacy requests
Customers of a Shopify merchant should generally contact the merchant directly regarding access, correction, deletion, or other requests concerning their personal information.
Where Shopify forwards a valid privacy request to DiscountIQ through its required privacy mechanisms, we process the request in accordance with Shopify's requirements and our applicable obligations.
Merchants may also contact Aapview Labs regarding privacy questions related specifically to DiscountIQ.
11. International processing
Our service providers and infrastructure may process information in jurisdictions other than the country in which a merchant or customer is located.
Where required, we take appropriate measures regarding international processing and transfers of personal information consistent with applicable contractual and legal requirements.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when DiscountIQ's features, processing practices, service providers, or applicable requirements change.
When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
